It seems that Australian Graham Moore, who was responsible for the appearance of the Williams Renault Team at the 1997 AMP Bathurst 1000, is again attempting to strike a deal to bring the team out in 1998. In addition Derek Warwick is set to return in a modified BTCC Vauxhall Vectra, supported by Holden Australia. As with so many ventures, more money could see a second Vectra on the track.
Craig Baird, currently racing in the British Touring Car Championship in a Ford Mondeo, may race in the November Australian 1000 Classic at Bathurst. Baird paired up in last years event with Steve Johnson in Dick Johnson's Ford 5-litre V8 Supercar Team.
Dick Johnson Racing has already secured the services of four drivers so Baird needs the team to sign a sixth driver before he is assured of a drive. This would see DJR feild a three car team.
Craig Baird had his best finish of his first season in the British Touring Car Championship when he came home sixth in the feature 40 lap race at Snetterton on the 26th July 1998. Qualifying 12thon the grid, Baird ran a hard race to cross the line +18.726s behind the eventual winner James Thonpson in a Honda.
